“Our mission is to transform how BIPOC communities view and value mental health through awareness, education, advocacy, and accessible resources. While empowering each individual to rise above stigma and live authentically.”

“We envision a world where mental health is embraced, not stigmatized. Where every BIPOC individual feels seen, supported, and free to live authentically and without shame.”

Shawntrece “Trecie” Walker is the Founder of
Mind Over Stigma, Inc.
Trecie’s passion for mental health advocacy is deeply personal, grounded in lived experience, community observation, and a commitment to service. She recognized the urgent need for culturally responsive mental health education, especially within Black and marginalized communities where access, understanding, and representation have historically been limited. Her work is driven by the belief that mental wellness is not a luxury but a fundamental part of overall health. With a background in business and a strong interest in public health and community outreach, Trecie blends strategic leadership with compassion-led advocacy. She is especially passionate about creating spaces that encourage vulnerability, emotional expression, and collective healing—particularly for Black men and women, youth, and underserved populations.
At the heart of her mission is a simple but powerful truth: "When we change the conversation around mental health, we change lives."
